Claim at import
Relief is normally claimed when the goods are imported, with the inventory and proof of the move. It is not a refund you can request later. Confirm the required forms with the broker before the container leaves.
Goods that arrive after the deadline, or that were bought after the move, may fall outside the scheme.
Frequently asked questions
Do new items qualify?
Often not, or only up to a limit. The scheme is usually for goods owned and used before the move.
Does relief cover a car?
Sometimes under a separate scheme with its own conditions. Check both.
